Licensure Prospective marine surveyors must pass several written examinations given by the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying. After passing a first exam, most prospective surveyors are apprenticed to an experienced surveyor for 4 years before taking the second test. Additionally, most States also require surveyors to pass a written examination prepared by the State licensing board.
Job Outlook Many good jobs exist in this category. Openings will increase in the future as the need to replace retired workers increases.
